The safe and secure management, handling and eradication of data is a primary priority for any data bearing products we receive from point of collection to final reporting. Data erasure at Ycs Computers is undertaken in a number of different ways – each designed to meet the needs of different customers and to ensure the best possible protection. Ycs Computers uses the authorised and approved methods:

Software Data Erasure: The use of software data erasure tool permanently and securely removes data but preserves the integrity of the Hard Disk allowing resale of hardware should the customer choose. Ycs Computers use the most secure software data erasure product called WIPE DRIVE PRO 4 which wipes the data to a military style standard and no data can ever be retrieved.

3. Physical Data Destruction: Physical data destruction is effected when the customer chooses or as a safeguard when the data bearing item itself fails. In this case the offending Hard Disk Drive, or other data bearing item is physically destroyed to ensure permanent eradication of the data. The hard disc drives are usually drilled or we may use a hard disc shredding machine.

4. Onsite Data Wiping: Ycs Computers offers onsite data wiping services for companies who wants their computers wiped professionally onsite before donating or recycling it. This service is only offered to companies going into receivership or has a very sensitive data that cannot be moved from their premises. The service is chargeable and any company looking for this service must contact us for a quote.

5. Disposal: All other magnetic data bearing media, such as tapes and Floppy Disk Drives that are unsuitable for software or physical destruction are sent to our partner melting and processing plant to be melted down. We recycle 100% and none goes to the landfill.
